My life at the moment

Working life in the bubble of South-East Asia: Singapore!!!

I should talk according to time, so my first event to post should be my experience in the Infinity Pool (I will explain later) but it seems some pictures I need to receive are late so... I will start with the PC show!

Saturday 9th June

I needed a new computer but my pocket was questioning that...so I waited for a long time to be in Asia where it is supposed to be cheaper. Actually prices are similar, maybe a couple of euros less but it is not meaningful. However, I knew about the IT fairs carry out in Singapore! and then I waited for one of these. I was lucky because I could attent to the PC show, the only IT fair ocurring here while I am in Asia.

Rivers of people everywhere! And I heard from a couple of guys talking: "it seems there are not many people"... WhAAAT!? yes, first day and thursday after work/university so... it is reasonable that there will be more people on friday and saturday. For me was enough. I really feel now Europe is deserted! ahhaha I enjoyed being among many people and some of them with microphones advertising bargains all the time, technological ones of course!

So finally I ot my new laptop, more or less same price as in Europe but with a 17 in 1 kit with mouse, headphones, USB multiplier and many other useful things. Now I am able to read/write everywhere. Very useful for my thesis... so thinking about work also, not only travelling as many of you think! ahhaha

It is funny for me the fact of shopping here because here in Singapore people buy things all the time! Maybe it is me that I am not that consumer (only if it is really necessary) that I think people buy just because there are offerts, but much more than in Europe!!! I just can compare the phenomenom here to London, Oxford Street or Candem town... but even though I think I did not see that many bags or boxes as here! :S

Well after a long time waiting, here it is my new baby, nice one, nice colour, although I could not chose and without ñññññññññ!!! I will see if I can get used to that or try to use Spanish keybord and imagine my ñññ painted in my key! ahhahaa

I recommend to attent to one of these fair, here in Singapore or wherever, just to see it is worthy, unless you like calm, hate crowded places and you do not need anything technological :)

On our way to the island
Embarking!
The harbour in Changi Point
Last scape in Singapore! I went yesterday to Pulau Ubin with my good friend Andres who was visiting me in Singapore. The island is amazingly green and untouched by Singaporean development. Renting a bike is the best option, mainly for me at the moment (I really miss cycling!!! and I do not practice any sports at the moment). I had a very nice time and unexpectly I did not sweat that much because the greeny made fresh our way along Pulau Ubin! If you stay in Singapore for some time, which it is not the common case due to the expensive living here in comparison to around, go there!
The only thing... be careful with the stones, angry waitres when you finish your drink and people trying to convince you to rent their bikes! :P About the stones... everything is with signs so I think you will be safe ;P some of the curious ones are shown here next.
If you require information to travel there check this link: http://www.pulauubin.com.sg/ This one is the best I found. Anyway, I can always be contacted for more information :)
Enjoy the pictures!

After 2 years life changes a lot... from Scotland to England

Since the last post my life has changed a lot. It could take me ages to explain in detail what the changes have been. I will try to summarize as much as I can though.

I was in Singapore until 1st of September or around that time. Then from there I went to Berlin to defend my thesis and a few days later I graduated in Nice (France). In the middle of these events I took the advantage to visit a friend in Switzerland, visiting for the first time the country. After the graduation and my last incredible days with all my mates from my masters, I went to a wedding of another friend in Budapest. After that, the real life started: looking for a proper job overseas and from Spain to start with.

I was very lucky to get an opportunity and where I wanted: SE-Asia. I wanted to be longer there but fate brought me back to the UK. I could not get the visa to Malaysia to work in KL. It seems the Malaysian government is not very welcoming to foreigners to work there. I still do not understand the reasons why you should be at least 27 years old to work there, for example. Anyway, it was decided I would be good for the company and I was sent to Edinburgh.

Time passed so fast and I made my life in Edinburgh for 1 year and 11 months to be exact. Great friends, very good opportunities to travel in that amazing land, to learn their Celtic culture, to have such a nice colleagues, interesting work although not what I expected...

After that time, a new period stared! Not long ago actually. On 31st of January I was relocated to Warrington, in England. Unfortunately the office I was to work in, closed. I want to think about my new period, where things will change for the best and where I will reach other dreams and goals.

I live now in Manchester as I do not bother to live in a small town such as Warrington. I commute everyday by train and then shuttle bus but it is worthy as I am in a very well-connected city which will help me with stepping on Europe and further destinations.

Thanks to a friend who reminded me how abandoned I had the blog. Here I am again. I will make my best to write more and complete all the sections as I have many thing to tell about the countries in Europe and others further in the globe.

While I am updating everything, I will leave you with some shoots of my first "tourist" day as a resident of Manchester. I will talk more about the city in the upcoming posts.

One of the most famous bars

So far I can say that Manchester is a modern city which preserves the legacy of the industrial times. Well connected and with many activities, it is a "bubbly" city.
